The origin of led colored lighting

As Holiday Creations/Diogen Lighting and Evident Technology announced the signing of an exclusive licensing and purchase agreement, a new type of LED was to be commercialized in the seasonal light strand market in the US and Canada.
The new technology was centered on semiconductor nanocrystals, also known as quantum dots, and allowed for never-before-seen colors and new design possibilities for the fast growing LED decorative light strand market such as Led garden lighting.
Traditional LEDs were energy efficient then, but were fundamentally limited to a handful of colors like, red, blue, yellow and green. Evident's quantum dot technology removed these limitations, and enabled LEDs to emit any color, including high quality white light. Phosphors could be used to alter the color but the color pallet is still limited. "As consumers become more aware of the energy savings afforded by LED lights, they are switching from the traditional incandescent lights. The problem with current LEDs is that their color selection is limited. Imagine if you only had five colors to choose from for painting, coloring or decorating," stated the CEO of Holiday Creations/Diogen Lighting. This new technology enable Led lights manufacturers to provide a wide range of colors for holiday and decorative lighting.
Energy Efficient Lights were colorful strands utilizing these quantum dot LEDs and were distinctive for their attractive retail packaging design.
