Shifting regional dominance

Based on a survey conducted by Strategies Unlimited (SU)in 2011 the total market share gained by Taiwanese and Chinese Led lights suppliers is basically at the expense of the other regions. Chinese LED market share boosted from 2 percent to 7 percent and it was mainly profited from its fast-developing domestic market, as well as improvements in LED lights quality.

Korean companies, nevertheless, lost its LED market share, in spite of the dramatically increasing LED lights capacity during the ramp-up in year 2010. Another Asian-Pacific region such as Japan had trended down or flat, even though Nichia and TG are getting accustomed to the tablet-development.

On the other side, Led lights manufacturers such as Philips Lumileds, Cree, and Osram Optoelectronics’ expansion into the LED lights accessories had slowed down, with excess capacity available on their 4" wafer manufactures. Osram Optoelectronics achieved a major design success, which propelled its visible LED component business to more than 1000000000 dollars.
